Brethren:
On Tuesday, June 2nd, we値l initiate another brother into
our ranks at our Stated Communication. We値l open in MM right at 7:00 PM as we
have some business to take care of and we値l close in EA after the degree.
At our Stated Communication on Tuesday, June 16th, we値l talk about Grand
Lodge and a little more about a DeMolay chapter. At our April 21st meeting, we
heard from Robert Messer of Wisconsin DeMolay on forming a DeMolay chapter at
Doric. We need someone from Doric to help organize the adult advisors for
DeMolay. We値l be asking other lodges in the area to assist us, but we really
need someone from Doric to anchor it. Please let me know if you池e interested.
Special thanks to those who helped out with our yard work. PM Terry Rieck,
PM Chuck Porter Sr., PM Chuck Porter Jr., Chris Porter, Roy Holm, Chad Stendal,
and PM Mitch Custer.
Also, special thanks to Chuck Sr., Roy, and Mitch
for the donation of grass seed and shrubs to get our dirt mounds growing
something other than weeds.
We could use some donations of shrubs and
perennials, flower bed felt, and bed mulch or other fill. Stone would be ideal
to fill the beds by the building, but probably too expensive. Please let us know
if you are able to donate one of those things.
In July we値l have our
Chicken/Brat BBQ on Saturday, July 25th at Noon. There is also a combined
Scottish Rite/blue lodge/Shrine golf outing on Thursday, July 16th. Golf ($25)
will start at Noon; dinner ($13) will be at 6 PM. Reservations for the Golf date
are due by July 2nd. A link to the flyer/reservation form is on the lodge
website at www.doriclodge.com.
The coffee klatch started up again on
Thursday, May 28th at 9:30 AM. I believe the plan is to meet every Thursday at
9:30 AM at the lodge. See the website or call Nick Elmquist, Chuck Porter Sr.,
or Roy Holm (see Officers listing for contact info).
In May we also
talked about the budget for the lodge and I presented a draft budget showing the
current expenses and income. Doric is operating at a roughly two thousand dollar
($2,000) annual deficit. The last year and a half were actually significantly
more than that due to the building expenses -- but the $2,000 is a hard number
without ANY building/capital costs and without any budget for repairs or
improvements. We need ideas for fundraisers and we need to talk about raising
dues. Please come to lodge or contact me with your thoughts.
As always,
please see the website at www.doriclodge.com for the latest news.
If you
have an event you壇 like to see or wish to talk to me about any topic; please
contact me. My phone number is (608) 274-4430 and my email address is
master@doric356.com. I have a second phone line at (608) 721-0998 where you can
leave a message for me 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Hope to see you
in lodge!
